JOB TITLE: LOAN OFFICER

*General Summary*
Under general supervision, but in line with established policies and procedures, provides a variety of service functions in processing loans as well as taking applications.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties *Is accountable for representing the bank to the customer in a courteous, professional manner, and for providing prompt, efficient, and accurate service.
* * May assist in screening other loan officer’s calls.
Answers question when possible or direct calls to appropriate officer.
* Is responsible for various loan duties which may include processing loan applications and loan documents, formatting new loans, making new loan files, filing, pulling paid loans, scanning loan documents, exception reports, insurance, financials, credit references, VSI reports, etc.
* Cross-sells bank services, explaining such matters as various types of accounts and certificates, interest, and compounding rates.
Suggests the use of safe deposit boxes, traveler’s checks, and so forth.
* Prepares form letters.
May compose and type other letters to customers concerning inquiries into transactions directly affecting them.
* Prepares loan renewal processing and mortgage renewals.
* May be asked to help with collateral records and other duties as assigned.
* Should be responsible for being familiar with all laws and regulations applicable to their departments or functions; establishing effective procedures and controls to ensure compliance with those laws and regulations-including training their employees on laws/regulations applicable to their individual jobs; perform self-assessment to ensure controls are working satisfactorily and employees are executing requirements at an acceptable level; and implementing corrective action when self-assessment or independent reviews shows that controls are not working and/or employees are not performing satisfactorily.

In this on-going sales role as part of being a LO, the LO continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new lending opportunities.
A Loan Officer’s network may consist of Real Estate professionals, Builders, professional and personal contacts, business contacts as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the Loan Officer’s regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations.
The LO responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other Bank business channels.
The LO conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advice customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information.
The LO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.
” Skills and Abilities Required *Interpersonal skills to represent the association in a positive way in dealing with customer transactions.
* Ability to operate on-line terminal and other standard office equipment, including adding machine, computer and typewriter.
*SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS* * * Must be able to sit and/or stand for periods of up to two hours * Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds (reasonable accommodation may be made) * Must be able to occasionally move up to 50 pounds (reasonable accommodation may be made) Working Conditions *Minimum discomfort from noise, heat, dust, and other causes.
* * Length of working day is unpredictable.
May have to work long hours to balance books because of computer failure or unusually heavy customer traffic.
Minimum Level of Preparation and Training Required by the Job *A high school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of compliance training.
