SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading and facilitating the pressing process to produce quality tile products.
This is accomplished by leading press operators and working with other departments to meet the needs of our external customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write standardized work instructions for the department.
Update work instructions as necessary.
Verify that production sheets are always up to date and correct.
Trains new press operators on methods or equipment.
Makes sure that quality tests are conducted correctly and constantly.
Schedule coverage of absences of employees.
Work on the presses as an operator up to 75% of the time.
Ensure that all operators are held accountable for compliance to standard operating procedures and policies.
Audit work of press operators to make sure standard work is followed.
Lead problem solving efforts on the department.
Continuously discusses employee performance and development.
Sets shift priorities in the department and assigns work to employees.
Visually inspects machines and equipment for maintenance and safety needs.
Monitors department safety ensuring all employees work safely, follow FT safety policies and use PPE as required.
Completes forms or paperwork required for each shift.
Ability to resolve personnel issues and conflicts.
Provide coaching, counseling and corrective action where necessary.
Review all disciplinary actions with Department Manager.
Ability to lead and direct without Management oversight.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer skills
Two years tile experience preferred with demonstrated ability to locate, identify and resolve problems with tile manufacturing processes.
Professional conduct required, including excellent attendance, exemplary contribution/performance and other desirable behaviors such as positive attitude etc.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership qualities.
Knowledge and willingness to learn, support, and implement Florida Tile training methods as well as policies and procedures.
Must be willing to work all shifts which may include days, nights and weekends.
