Description
Kentucky State Police is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
With the highest level of professionalism and integrity the Kentucky State Police works to prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; protect and safeguard individual rights; and provide leadership, training, technical, and operational support to the criminal justice community.
Primary Role: This position compiles data from six forensic laboratories across the state and generates specialized reports for KSP Command Staff as well as outside agencies.
Reports are generated to monitor the workload of the six laboratories and are used to assist management in determining where to assign resources.
Additionally, this position creates weekly reports including statistics and mapping of drug test results to monitor drug trafficking and abuse trends.
This information is used to inform KSP and other state and national entities where to target enforcement and provide treatment services.
Key Responsibilities:
Compiles statewide data regarding cases and items received, completed, backlogs, and turnaround times for reports to be published monthly and annually for the Division of Forensic Services.
Compiles analytical results from drug and toxicology chemists from all laboratories statewide on a weekly basis.
Publishes and distributes reports with maps and statistical analyses.
Works with laboratory management to push data from the laboratory information management system to lab supervisors statewide for the purpose of monitoring input and output.
Assists with the sexual assault kit tracking web application and compiles the data and completes the annual KRS mandated reporting.
Assists with data entry from cold cases into a specialized database on the REDCap platform
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in producing statistical analyses from large datasets
Proficiency in advanced Excel software charting applications
Proficient in Tableau software for charting applications
Proficient in REDCap software (Research Electronic Data Capture) for database applications
Proficient in Access software database applications
Proficient writing and grammar skills

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of systems analysis, business administration, or public administration experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis.
A master's degree in computer science, business or public administration will substitute for the experience requirement.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, information services, research and statistics, business administration, or public administration will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
