Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply to this position.
This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
The primary purpose of Breakthough Louisville is to prepare and support talented, underserved middle school students for greater academic success as well as introduce college students to the teaching profession.
For 2024, we are recruiting 14 college students or recent grads to teach math or language arts.
Each teacher is assigned a classroom of 5-8 children, who are grouped by proficiency.
Teachers are given a lot of room for creativity and teaching methods.
You do not need
to be an Education Major.
The only prerequisite is a passion for teaching children.
Teachers are required to be there all day and help manage students, help with breakfast and lunch, and
afternoon programming.
All staff are asked to lead some type of club (art, chess, cooking, film, yearbooks, etc), based on each teacher’s passion.
During the summer, we are located at Louisville Collegiate

Must be available from June 3 – July 20 (no weekends except for a possible Sat.
Graduation Ceremony)
Must be adaptable as everyday is different
Must be a team player.
Must have the maturity to handle a classroom of middle school students.
