Required Related Experience N/A Required License/Registration/Certification N/A Job Summary The Department of Community and Leadership Development in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at the University of Kentucky seeks applicants for a 12-month, tenure track, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor position.
The anticipated start date is January 1, 2024.
The position is a joint appointment in the Departments of Community & Leadership Development (CLD) and Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering (BAE).
The primary appointment will be in CLD (75%) and the secondary in BAE (25%).
The distribution of effort for this position is 55% instruction, 40% research, and 5% service and is reviewed/adjusted as needed annually.
Teaching expectations include but are not limited to 3–4 courses and student-teacher supervision in CLD’s Career & Technical Education bachelor’s degree program, a graduate course associated with the Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center (CARERC), and the recruitment, advising, and mentorship of CLD graduate students.
This successful candidate will teach courses associated with pedagogical/andragogical theory to practice and safety-theory coursework.
Expectations include further developing a nationally recognized and extramurally funded research program focused on agricultural safety and health, in collaboration with the CARERC (Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center).
The successful candidate is expected to establish, or have an established, a strong peer-reviewed publication record in teaching and research scholarship; securing competitive grants; as well as recruiting and advising graduate students.
Collaboration and instruction that supports and expands the linkages between agricultural education, the CARERC, as well as other disciplines within and beyond the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is essential.
Qualities of a successful candidate’s teaching could include: • Utilizing innovative individual and group learning processes including student centered and experiential learning approaches • Creatively addressing contemporary issues with a sensitivity towards social justice • The ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures including those from historically underrepresented groups and nontraditional students • Ability to deliver classroom and online courses • Creating and sustaining an engaged environment for student learning • Integrating classroom instruction with Extension opportunities Salary open and competitive.
