Teaching Assistant responsibilities include delivering or assisting in course/lab instruction, grading homework and projects, holding office hours, and other duties as assigned.
To be eligible, applicants must apply to and be accepted by the UK Graduate School and the RHB doctoral program.
Additionally, they must have a doctoral degree in physical therapy licensed as a physical therapist in Kentucky or eligible.
10-Month Positions Available: August 2023 and eligible for renew each year while enrolled as an RHB doctoral student in good standing.
Location: University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY Position Description: Teaching Assistant (TA) in the College of Health Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
Required Qualifications: 1.
Earned doctorate of physical therapy (DPT) 2.
Interest in teaching students pursuing a professional doctorate in physical therapy 3.
Possess or be eligible for Kentucky licensure as a physical therapist 4.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications 1.
Experience in clinical care of varied patient populations in physical therapy 2.
Experience teaching 3.
Experience in research A teaching assistantship will include stipend (10 months), tuition waiver (Fall and Spring semesters), and health insurance.

Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistantship in the Dept.
of Physical Therapy: The TA will be responsible for multiple activities within the curriculum, with the possibilities of serving as a lab assistant in lab courses in the physical therapy professional doctorate program (not to exceed 20 hours weekly in total of all instructional activities that includes prep, instruction, grading, and travel).
Specific course assignments will align with the expertise/experience of the teaching assistant and will be made from these lab courses: PT 650, PT 651, PT 662, PT 654, PT 814, PT 815, PT 676, PT 847 (Curriculum outline: https://www.

edu/chs/physical-therapy/our-program/curriculum ) This position requires a full semester commitment of approximately 20 hours per week and may include the following duties, expectations, and requirements: · Completion of Graduate School university-wide TA Orientation and the Department’s orientation activities.
· Collaboration with Program and/or DPT faculty as necessary re assessments, lessons, and course content.
· Consultation with Program Director to discuss any course related issues.
· Responsiveness to questions, requests for feedback, and other correspondence with students and colleagues in person and online via email/zoom.
· Monitoring/tracking student progress through the use of Canvas.
· Provision of occasional guest lectures or in-class instructional activities as assigned · Maintenance of student coursework via Canvas or as hardcopy.
· Provide office hours per week and meeting with students at their appointment request.
· Grade and evaluate student work according to rubrics and examination keys.
· Submit midterm and final grades and all Title IV requirements to the Registrar (training is available).
· Participate in professional development and program meetings as necessary.
· Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Teaching Assistants may not exceed 20 hours per week during the academic year for all assignments across campus.
TA’s receive a stipend, a tuition scholarship provided by the UK Graduate School/College of Health Sciences, and Student Health Plan Coverage provided by the Graduate School.

Information about the RHB PhD Program The mission of the Rehabilitation and Health Sciences PhD Program is to fulfill a leadership role in addressing the rehabilitation needs of individuals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond through research, education, and service.
The program is designed to produce research and academic leaders in rehabilitation sciences for the professions of communication disorders, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training.
